You’re Not Busy. You’re Hiding.
(How I Finally Stopped Being My Own Bottleneck)
I used to think I had a productivity problem.
But I didn’t.
I had a decision problem hidden behind endless “busy” work.
Let me show you exactly what I mean — by roasting myself a little.
For a long time, here’s what my days looked like:
Building new workflows instead of shipping the landing page
Switching tools mid-project to “optimize” (and losing days)
Blaming my ADHD brain for the fact that nothing meaningful was getting finished
Sound familiar?
Because it hit me like a brick wall:
Being busy wasn’t my problem.
Hiding from the real work was.
When I finally saw the pattern…
I realized something uncomfortable:
I wasn’t scared of failing.
I was scared of succeeding — because success would remove all my excuses.
If the product shipped, the clock would start ticking.
If the customers came, they’d have expectations.
And if I showed up fully, there’d be no more hiding in complexity.
That scared the hell out of me.
The “1 Outcome Rule” That Changed Everything
I started applying one simple rule to my days:
“What’s the ONE thing I’m doing today that creates a customer, keeps a customer, or builds something for a customer?”
Not “what looks productive.”
Not “what feels comfortable.”
Only this:
Create.
Keep.
Build.
If it didn’t hit one of those buckets, it got pushed to the side.
Here’s Exactly What I Changed
1. Picked a single finish line each week
No more juggling 12 half-projects.
One major outcome. Full focus.
2. Filtered every task through the 1 Outcome Rule
If it didn’t create revenue or retention? Delay it.
Simple.
3. Built in public
Sharing progress made hiding impossible.
It also attracted support, feedback, and early users faster than any marketing trick.
Final Thought
You don’t need more hacks, apps, or automations.
You need a finish line — and the discipline to sprint straight at it.
I’ll leave you with the same question I ask myself every morning now:
“What’s the one outcome I’m owning today?”
Let’s stop hiding and start finishing.
I’m right there with you.
