What Makes A Good Property Management Apps?
Property management is one of the fastest growing industries in America today. It’s estimated there are over 50 million rental units in the U.S., and this number continues to grow every year. As property managers, we know that our jobs require a lot of attention to detail and that our success depends heavily on efficient operations and effective communication. That’s why we chose to use Mobile Apps in our day-to-day lives. We found that the ability to manage our properties anywhere, anytime was invaluable to our business.
We use mobile apps for everything from booking appointments to sending out maintenance requests, and we wanted to use them for our daily property management tasks too. In addition to managing our properties remotely, we needed a system where we could view reports, track inventory, and communicate with tenants and contractors.
Here are some of the most popular apps we use for our daily property management activities:
For those of us in the field, it’s hard to get to a computer to view our monthly reports. When we need to see what’s going on at our properties, we rely on our smartphones. Our favorite report viewing app is called QuickBooks Online, and it gives us all the information we need right in front of us. We can pull up our invoices, receipts, and other financial documents in seconds. Other report viewers include Zoho Docs and Google Documents.
As property managers, we spend a lot of time in our offices looking through spreadsheets and paper files. Since we don’t have time to physically check out each item, we use mobile apps like GoodData to help us keep track of our inventory. GoodData allows us to enter all of our items into the system and create customized reports showing us exactly what we need to see.
Communicating With Tenants & Contractors:
When we’re not busy running around trying to fix problems at our properties, we still need to communicate with our tenants and contractors. We use a variety of apps to send messages and photos, including TextPlus, iMessage, Slack, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Snapchat.
*Note: These apps are just a few examples of what we use to run our businesses; they’re not intended to be exhaustive lists.
